Kadambari and Other Ancient Classics (5 in 1)

Return to the idyllic world of Ancient India with Amar Chitra Katha’s Kadambari and Other Ancient Classics.
Summary of the Book
In five tales, Amar Chitra Katha brings young readers a retelling of India’s Post-Vedic literature period. This volume shows the transition from writing about the deeds of gods to the triumph of human spirit and the fallacies of mankind. Here, readers are introduced to the maiden Kadambari, who was so beautiful that the Moon God himself fell in love with her. In Nagananda, Prince Jimutavahana sacrifices his own body to save the Nagas who are being sacrificed to the divine Garuda. Malati and Madhava melds horror and romance as it tells the story of two lovers and their tribulations as a king tries to get Malati to marry another man. In the story of Malavika, a King falls in love with a servant girl. And in Raja Bhoja, a king finds the fabled throne of a legendary king, and tries to ascend it, only to be questioned by the statues adorning the throne. These stories showcase the wealth of India’s mythology and literature, presenting the country and its glorious past to a new generation with beautiful art and succinct storytelling.
